The CAFOD Annual Mass of Thanksgiving took place at the parish of ‘Christ the king and Our Lady’ on Thursday 12th July 2012. It was extra special this year as we were joined by the choir from Notre Dame Catholic College in Everton Valley who sang beautifully throughout the Mass. They even had African drumming and even sang the first part of ‘We are Marching’ in Zulu. We were also joined by the children from Christ the King Catholic Primary school who during the offertory, brought the faces of five CAFOD partners who have visited Liverpool Archdiocese over the last few years including Nete, Kepha, Odette, Lemlem and the Brazilians (Leticia, Anjinha, Cristiano and Luciano). The Principal Celebrant was the Most Reverend Patrick Kelly and he was joined by Fr Michael Fitzsimons. Members from the CAFOD Liverpool youth group read the readings and bidding prayers during the Mass. At the end of Mass Tom O’Connor (Director of CAFOD’s Communities and Supporters Division) spoke briefly to thank the people of Liverpool Archdiocese for their generosity over Lent and spoke about some of the people he has met around the world who have been helped by CAFOD.After Mass, Mary Coghlan and parishioners from Christ the King provided the refreshments. We would like to give a special thanks to everyone who made the night so special!
