On Wednesday, we spent the morning and early afternoon with CAFOD’s partners MDF where we visited Vila Prudente where MDF have worked for years. We spent the morning with children in the crèche and Louise (my travelling companion from Nottingham) got out her Robin Hood puppet. She taught the children how to say what their name is in English and also taught them a song. Marching around the room the children very quickly were confidently joining in with “My name is Robin Hood, My name is Robin Hood, My name is Robin Hood and I am very good.” The children in the crèche absolutely loved Robin!
After lunch, we visited the cultural centre in Vila Prudente which is a youth club for young people in the favela were they can take part in arts and crafts, dance or even use the computers. While we were there we chatted to some of the young people and they even performed some dance moves for us!!
