CAFOD Cup Knowlsey and Liverpool heat (afternoon session)

The Liverpool and Knowsley heats of the CAFOD Cup took place at St Margaret Mary’s Catholic Junior School on the afternoon of Thursday 13th June and it involved 6 schools from Liverpool and Knowsley LEAs. The rain didn’t stop pouring once! The six schools that battled it out included:

»Our Lady of Good Help Catholic Primary School in Wavertree (Cambodia)

» St Mark’s Catholic Primary School in Halewood(El Salvador)

» St Brigid’s Catholic Primary School in Stockbridge Village (Rwanda)

»Carlton House in Liverpool (Bangladesh)

» Holy Family Catholic Primary School in Toxteth (Brazil)

» St Margaret Mary’s Catholic Junior School in Liverpool (Ethiopia)

All the schools came up with their own victory dances too! After a nail-biting and fun-filled tournament, the semi–finals saw St Margaret Mary’s pitted against Holy Family and St Brigid’s versus St Mark’s. In the end St Margaret Mary’s and St Brigid’s reached the finals. At the end of the match it was neck and neck and after some tense penalties, St Margaret Mary’s were crowned the ‘CAFOD Cup Liverpool and Knowsley heat winners.’ St Margaret Mary’s will now be representing Knowsley/Liverpool in the CAFOD Cup grand final! Every child who took part received a CAFOD Cup medal and a certificate!

Many thanks and congratulations to all the schools who took part-we hope that you had as much fun as we did!!!! We hope that you have all dried off!

A massive thank you for all who helped make the afternoon such a success including our friends at St Margaret Mary’s for their hospitality.
