The Liverpool and Knowsley heats of the CAFOD Cup took place at St Margaret Mary’s Catholic Junior School on the morning of Thursday 13th June and it involved 6 schools from Liverpool and Knowsley LEAs. The rain didn’t stop pouring once! The six schools that battled it out included:
» St Albert’s Catholic Primary School in Stockbridge Village (Cambodia)
» St Paul’s Catholic Primary School in West Derby (El Salvador)
» St Laurence’s Catholic Primary School in Kirby (Rwanda)
» St Andrew the Apostle Catholic Primary School in Halewood (Bangladesh)
» St Teresa of Lisieux Catholic Primary School in Norris Green (Brazil)
» All Saint’s Catholic Primary School in Anfield (Ethiopia)
All the schools came up with their own victory dances too! After a nail-biting and fun-filled tournament, the semi–finals saw St Paul’s pitted against St Laurence’s and St Teresa’s versus St Andrew’s. In the end (after agonising penalties) St Laurence’s and St Andrew’s reached the finals with St Laurence’s galloping to victory to be crowned the ‘CAFOD Cup Liverpool and Knowsley heat winners.’ St Laurence’s will now be representing Knowsley/Liverpool in the CAFOD Cup grand final! Every child who took part received a CAFOD Cup medal and a certificate!

As one teacher said about the day, “On the wettest day for weeks, we have a footy heat! No sunshine but plenty of warmth from everyone!”
