Hundreds of people including families, schools, churches, youth groups, priests, Bishops, dogs and even a woman on crutches came together for the 30th CAFOD Fun Run on the 27th December at Wavertree Park despite the snow and torrential rain. Over 500 runners and walkers took part from all over the country including Salford, Shrewsbury and Lancaster dioceses. Some of the people who came have run in every single race for the last 31 years!
The race was started by Bishop John Rawsthorne who also took part in the walk and met with all the runners taking part. As usual we had the fabulous jazz band providing entertainment as well as beautiful refreshments. We also had a fair-trade stall, a book stall and a CAFOD resources stall.
The prize for the best fancy dress costume was hotly contested. However, there was one outright winner and that was Elizabeth from Kirkdale who won a scrumptious box of chocolate for her brilliant costume!
A massive thank-you to everyone who took part and to all those volunteers who made our birthday celebrations go with a bang!
We hope that you all have a lovely new year and that 2015 is dream-filled for you and your family.
