We’re on a countdown to the CAFOD Fun Run which takes place on Tuesday 27th December
at The Mystery, Wavertree Sports Park, Liverpool, L15 4LE.
The CAFOD Fun Run is so much more than just a run! We really do continue the festive spirit and party atmosphere with a selection of stalls selling candles, Fairtrade products, Jewellery, hair accessories, dog accessories, CAFOD merchandise and of course… facepainting! There is also a chance to win some fabulous prizes that have kindly been donated, such as a 3 month family pass for the Aquatics Centre, a family ticket for Hollywood Bowl and vouchers donated by Signature Interiors.
The fun doesn’t stop there, with food and hot drinks provided by Scoff Outside and entertainment provided by jazz band The Rioters.
Community Participation Coordinator, Colette Byrne, said ‘Music from The Rioters really does provide a fantastic atmosphere for the event. So if you’re not keen on taking part in the run or walk, why not come along and support us by browsing our stalls, enjoying some food and drink and soaking up the atmosphere with the wonderful jazz music… you may even want to have a dance!’
Rioters musician, Jeff Lewis said, ‘We enjoy doing the CAFOD Fun Run each year because we can just sit there and watch other people do the work. Seriously though, it’s a brilliant opportunity to burn off the turkey, blow away the Christmas cobwebs and be a bit of help to others while we’re at it.’
Please do come and join us on 27th December.
This year’s CAFOD Fun Run will be supporting the Ethiopia Food Crisis, where ten million people are facing a crippling drought. Severe and extreme weather shifts, part of the El Niño effect, mean that the rains in Ethiopia have failed twice. Farmers are losing their crops, water sources are drying up, and families are struggling to keep themselves and their animals alive. As a result, an estimated 400,000 children are suffering from malnutrition and millions are in need of emergency food and clean water. Money raised from the CAFOD Fun Run will be used to scale up our work and reach more vulnerable women, men and children with life-saving aid.
Remember you can run, walk or toddle and dogs are welcome too! If taking part isn’t for you, perhaps enjoying a cup of tea, buying a raffle ticket and listening to entertaining jazz music from local band, The Rioters, would be more enjoyable. There is something for everyone at the CAFOD Fun Run so please do come along and support this event!
